this is how our Bubbles are made

In 2006, Gerrit Maritz (GM) got into his bakkie and drove over to Albert Ahrens, one of the winemakers in the Swartland area at the time. GM invited Albert Ahrens to consider working with GM to produce one day one of South Africa’s most top end Cap Classiques. There and then GM as Founder and Albert as co-founder started to craft the first vintage.

Founder Gerrit Maritz gets transported back to his university days studying Law, where every Spring Day he annually lived through the ‘Champagne Breakfast’ starting at 6:15am. This tradition made such an impression on him that he was adamant to carry it through his adult life and share it with as many like-minded bubbly-lovers as possible; what better way to accomplish this than founding a bubbly house?

Our bubbly parties are something to behold: gone are the stuffy airs and graces associated with bubbly-drinking of a bygone era, replaced instead by the pizzazz and showmanship of our enthusiastic founders. If ever you’ve wanted to experience an air sabrage, sabrage by champagne glass, or a hot-air balloon experience coupled with the excitement of tasting our latest releases, our bubbly parties and tastings are just the ticket.
